Meet Davido’s Grandmother, Nnenna Esther Adeleke of Akwete

Mrs. Nnenna Esther Adeleke, née Akpara, was from Akwete Ndoki in Ukwa East LGA of Abia State. She married Senator Ayoola Adeleke of Ede, Osun State, in a union that connected Igbo and Yoruba heritage. She was the mother of the late Isiaka Adeleke, Osun State’s first elected civilian governor; Governor Ademola Adeleke; and businessman Adedeji Adeleke, father of Afrobeats star Davido. Her Akwete family home is popularly known as Adeleke House. The family is also reported to maintain ties with the community through scholarships and other support.
