How a Stolen SUV Exposed the 2018 Umuahia Church Triple Murder

A 2018 triple-murder case in Umuahia, Abia State, drew attention after Apostle Blessed Kelechukwu, Assistant Pastor Kalu Ikeagwu and women’s leader Ruth Andrew were reported missing. Police later found their bodies in the pastor’s home, while his SUV, phones and other valuables had been taken. Investigators alleged that the missing phone was used to mislead relatives and church members into believing the pastor had travelled for church programmes. The investigation reportedly led detectives to a mechanic working on the stolen vehicle and then to Prosper Akachukwu, also known as Prosper Peter, a childhood friend of the deceased pastor. According to reports, Prosper confessed to planning the robbery and killings after resentment over church growth and money disputes. He and other accused persons were convicted and sentenced to death, while his wife was cleared of direct involvement. The case also reportedly marked the end of Wind of Glory International Church in Umuahia.
