EFCC Raid at UUTH: Professor Eyo Ekpe Arrested, Hospital Services Halted
Armed, masked operatives from the EFCC reportedly stormed the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in a commando-style operation yesterday morning. They entered the Deputy Chairman’s office and dragged Professor Eyo Ekpe from surgery under threat, causing a major disturbance. The raid sparked panic as staff, patients and visitors fled wards following the deployment of teargas. Witnesses said some people were injured and that operatives seized phones from those filming the incident. Hospital unions immediately ordered all medical and non-medical staff to evacuate until security is restored, leaving critical patients unattended. Both the EFCC and the hospital management had not responded to requests for comment at the time of reporting.
