CAF Backs Infantino’s 2027 FIFA Re-election Bid as Motsepe Calls for More Youth Investment
CAF President Patrice Motsepe says Africa’s 54 football federations have unanimously agreed to support FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s bid for re-election in 2027. Speaking at a CAF strategy meeting in Cape Verde, Motsepe urged delegates to stand with Infantino and said the partnership must translate into greater investment in African football, especially youth academies. Motsepe also said an African country can win the World Cup if development funding improves. He defended CAF’s commitment to ethics, transparency and due process, urging anyone with allegations against football officials to use FIFA’s ethics process. Infantino’s next election is scheduled for March 18, 2027, in Rabat.
