Lagos Deploys Traffic Officers, Lists Alternative Routes as Kara Bridge Gridlock Persists
The Lagos State Government has deployed additional traffic officers to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after a gridlock stranded motorists and commuters for more than 12 hours. The congestion affected Kara Bridge, Long Bridge, Magboro and Berger. Officials said a fallen truck, road crashes and ongoing rehabilitation work contributed to the disruption. The truck has since been removed, while traffic agencies from Lagos and Ogun are working to restore movement. Motorists have been urged not to drive against traffic and to plan their journeys ahead. Alternative routes include Ikorodu Garage through Ogijo, Sagamu and Lotto to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Travellers heading to Ijebu-Ode can use the Ikorodu-Ijebu-Ode route, while the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway is also advised for some trips towards Lagos.
