Examining Genuine Faith: More Than Hope or Positive Thinking
Faith is more than sincerity, optimism, emotion, or a strong desire for something to happen. Biblical faith is rooted in God’s Word, trusts His integrity, and is expressed through corresponding action. James 2:17 teaches that faith without works is dead, while Hebrews 11 shows how faith enabled people to overcome hardship, fulfil righteous purposes, and receive God’s promises. Our experiences may raise difficult questions, but Scripture remains the standard for understanding genuine faith. This devotional invites us to examine our beliefs honestly. Are we standing on God’s Word, or simply relying on hope and human expectations? Genuine faith hears, believes, and acts on God’s Word. Prayer: Father, help me to recognise genuine biblical faith and root my confidence in Your Word. Teach me to act in faith and walk in the victory You have promised. Amen.
