US to End Routine Visa Services at Abuja Embassy From August 1, 2026

The United States says it will discontinue routine visa services at its Embassy in Abuja and 24 other diplomatic posts across Africa from August 1, 2026. The US State Department said the decision is part of an overseas operations realignment aimed at strengthening security screening, vetting and the use of consular resources. It said the affected embassies and consulates will remain open and continue other services. Other affected locations include posts in Benin, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia and several other African countries. The department added that currently valid US visas will not be affected.
