Nigeria Drawn to Face Mauritania or DR Congo in 2027 U-23 AFCON Qualifiers

Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles will face either Mauritania or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the second round of the 2027 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers. The draw was held in Cairo, with Nigeria among 14 teams given a bye into the second round because of their record in recent editions. The Eagles will play their first leg on 9 November 2026 and the return fixture on 17 November. If Nigeria advance, they will meet the winner of Burkina Faso versus Sierra Leone or Zambia in the final qualifying round. Seven teams will qualify for the tournament in Egypt, which also serves as Africa’s route to the men’s football event at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
