WAEC Defends Credibility of 2026 WASSCE Results Amid Social Media Concerns

WAEC has dismissed concerns about the accuracy and credibility of the 2026 WASSCE results released on August 5. The council said the results were produced through established assessment, moderation and auditing procedures. WAEC said comments circulating on social media had caused anxiety among candidates, parents and schools. It urged the public to verify claims through official channels rather than rely on unconfirmed reports. According to the council, 1,950,726 candidates sat for the examination, while 1,200,514 obtained credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. Candidates with concerns were advised to use WAEC’s official review and query-resolution channels.
