Man Arrested After Mississippi Mother of Four’s Death Ruled Homicide
Jackson police have arrested 51-year-old Jacques Ratliff in connection with the death of Tasia Fortune, a 29-year-old mother of four whose body was found hanging from a tree behind an abandoned home. The Mississippi State Medical Examiner ruled Fortune’s death a homicide. Police said Ratliff knew Fortune but did not disclose the nature of their relationship. Investigators said the case remains active and that further arrests may follow. Fortune’s family said they were relieved by the arrest but still want answers about the motive and evidence. Her case has drawn wider attention following two other hanging deaths reported in Mississippi within the past year, both of which were ruled suicides.
