Super Falcons Midfielder Deborah Abiodun Ruled Out for Rest of NWSL Season
Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun will miss the rest of the 2026 NWSL season after Washington Spirit placed her on its season-ending injury list. The 22-year-old is expected to undergo surgery this week. Abiodun had initially been listed out for 45 days. Before the injury, she made nine appearances for Washington Spirit, starting four matches and playing 320 minutes. The setback follows Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup after a 2-1 playoff loss to South Africa. Abiodun will now begin rehabilitation as she targets a return for future club and national-team matches.
