Lagos Government Mourns Veteran Actor Taiwo Hassan Ogogo, Hails Yoruba Cultural Legacy
The Lagos State Government has mourned veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, describing him as a cultural ambassador whose work promoted Yoruba language, traditions and values across generations. In a condolence message, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture said his death was a major loss to Nollywood, Lagos’ entertainment sector and the preservation of indigenous culture. It said his films helped connect traditional Yoruba storytelling with contemporary audiences in Nigeria and abroad. The ministry extended condolences to his family, colleagues and admirers. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also described the actor as an accomplished performer whose work entertained, educated and inspired many people.
