Flooding, Unfinished Buildings and Poor Sanitation Reported at Enugu Smart School
An investigation has raised concerns about conditions at the Enugu Green Smart School in Emene, where pupils are reportedly attending classes amid flooding, unfinished structures and poor sanitation. Photographs and accounts cited in the report show weeds, refuse, construction debris, incomplete fencing and scaffolding around parts of the campus. Sources said waterlogged sections of the compound become difficult to access during the rainy season, with blocks and wooden planks reportedly used as walkways. The sources also alleged that some windows and roofing repairs were still being completed after pupils moved in. They further raised concerns over the reported lack of functional toilets and problems with drainage and sewage facilities. The report calls for clarification from the Enugu State Government on the project's completion status, funding, contractors and quality-control measures. State officials contacted for comment had not responded at the time of publication.
