Open grazing and farmer-herder clashes have damaged farmland, strained communities and threatened livelihoods in many parts of Nigeria. Lagos State is developing a 750-hectare cattle feedlot and dairy farm in Igbodu, Epe. The project is expected to support structured livestock production, fodder cultivation, veterinary services, milk processing and meat production. Could modern ranching and feedlots offer a lasting alternative to open grazing in Nigeria?
