Nigeria Must Make Teaching and Research Worth Choosing Again
I am concerned that poor pay and limited support are making teaching and research less attractive in Nigeria. The image of a graduate working as a POS agent may be humorous, but it also raises serious questions about graduate employment and the value placed on education. Teachers, researchers and academic experts need better remuneration, resources and working conditions. If education professionals cannot build stable careers, fewer young people may be willing to choose these paths in the future. I believe Nigeria can strengthen its education system by investing consistently in schools, research and the people who teach. We should ask students and teachers what changes would make education a more rewarding career.
