Osun Election Turnout Boosts Sales for Petty Traders in Ede

Petty traders around polling units in Ede and other parts of Osun State reported strong sales during the governorship election, as voters and election officials created a ready market for food, drinks and cash-withdrawal services. A bean cake and bread seller said she earned more between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. than she usually made in a full week. Other traders said they met their sales targets by moving between polling units or providing POS services. Some voters said the traders made it easier to buy food and refreshments while waiting to vote. A food vendor appealed to political actors to accept the final result and ensure the election ends peacefully.
