Ogoni Community Seeks Court Injunction to Block ₦62.55B HYPREP Disbursement and Calls for Minister’s Dismissal

The Ogoni Liberation Initiative has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja to stop a ₦62.55 billion cost variation approved for HYPREP projects already completed. The group wants the Environment Minister removed over alleged fund misappropriation and non-accountability. They have named several officials, including HYPREP’s project coordinator and the Attorney General, in suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1524/26. OLI’s convener says documentary evidence shows fraudulent transactions and that a National Assembly oversight report left over ₦400 billion unaccounted for. The group vows to pursue justice peacefully at home and abroad until environmental remediation and accountability are delivered.
