Mo Salah Makes History as First African to Reach 50 Champions League Goals
Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah became the first African player to score 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League. He reached the milestone in the 62nd minute of Wednesday night’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray at Anfield. Salah’s tally includes 47 goals for Liverpool, two for Basel and one for Roma. He officially surpassed Didier Drogba’s previous African record of 44 goals and became only the 12th player ever to hit 50 in the competition. Didier Drogba now sits second with 44 goals. Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto’o follows with 30, while former Liverpool teammate Sadio Mané (27) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (20) complete the top five.
