LASTMA Warns Lagos Residents Against Using Oil Scooped After Ojota Tanker Crash
Residents were seen scooping spilled groundnut oil after a 33,000-litre tanker overturned at Ojota Bridge near Abiola Garden, inward Old Toll Gate, Lagos. The crash, which was reportedly caused by suspected brake failure, blocked the carriageway and disrupted traffic. Emergency responders deployed recovery vehicles and diversion measures to clear the scene. LASTMA has warned residents, traders and food vendors not to consume or sell any oil collected from the roadside. The agency said it may have been contaminated by drainage water, road debris and other environmental pollutants, creating a serious health risk.
