Former Georgia Police Officer Arrested Over Alleged Evidence Room Theft

A former Cartersville police officer and evidence custodian, Donna Jean Kelley, has been arrested after an investigation into money missing from the department’s evidence room. Georgia investigators said the inquiry began in May after the police department reported missing funds. Kelley, 61, was arrested on September 24 and charged with violating her oath of office, first-degree forgery and felony theft. Authorities have not disclosed the amount allegedly taken, what was allegedly forged, or how investigators linked Kelley to the missing money. The case remains subject to court proceedings.
