Governor Mbah Pardons and Commutes Sentences of 13 Enugu Inmates
Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has approved the pardon, release and commutation of sentences for 13 inmates to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary. The decision followed recommendations from the Enugu State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, acting under Section 212 of the 1999 Constitution. Some beneficiaries were pardoned and released, while the death sentences of others were reduced to life imprisonment. The decisions considered reports of ill health and evidence of rehabilitation from the Nigerian Correctional Service.
