Foreign Affairs Minister Calls for Religious Tolerance, Backs Pilgrims’ Welfare
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has pledged the ministry’s support for Nigerian pilgrims and equal treatment for all faiths. He spoke during a courtesy visit by Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission Executive Secretary Bishop Stephen Adegbite in Abuja on September 3, 2026. Enikanolaiye said the ministry would deepen ties with countries hosting Nigerian pilgrims and protect the welfare of Nigerians at home and abroad. He urged citizens to reject religious division, saying peaceful coexistence must be a shared national responsibility. The minister cited his Muslim-Christian family as an example of interfaith harmony. Adegbite also spoke about his own interfaith background and said the commission’s mandate includes promoting national unity alongside organising pilgrimages.
