Adazi-Ani Youths Celebrate New Yam Festival to Preserve Culture and Unity
Youths in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, held their 2026 New Yam Festival at Eke Market Square. The annual celebration brought together indigenes at home and abroad, alongside other guests. The festival, known locally as Chieke or Iwaji Adazi-Ani, featured the ceremonial breaking of yam, cultural music and masquerade displays. Organisers said the event reflects the community's shared heritage and commitment to peace and unity. Community leaders commended the youth body for sustaining the tradition. They encouraged continued programmes that promote togetherness among residents and members of the Adazi-Ani community in the diaspora.
