NFF Congress Rejects Normalisation Committee, Proposes 3–6-Month Caretaker Ahead of Elections

The NFF Congress has backed wide-ranging reforms in Nigerian football but says the process must follow the NFF Statutes, Nigerian law and applicable FIFA and CAF regulations. It proposes an Extraordinary Congress to address leadership vacancies, review the Statutes and Electoral Code, verify voting structures and conduct elections within about six months. Congress also wants a caretaker committee to oversee the transition for three to six months. The Congress said a FIFA-backed Normalisation Committee should only be considered if the NFF’s existing institutions cannot legally or practically resolve the crisis. It also called for reforms in league administration, funding, infrastructure, player welfare, women’s football and grassroots development.
