Plateau Court Arraigns Four Over Angwan Rukuba Massacre, Adjourns to April 30
Plateau State government has charged four suspects arrested by the DSS for their alleged roles in the March 28 Angwan Rukuba killings. At separate sessions in Courts 9 and 12 of the Jos High Court, their pleas were not taken due to lack of legal representation, leading to a remand order and adjournment until April 30. The suspects face counts including criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism, culpable homicide, illegal possession of firearms, and arms dealing under the Plateau State Penal Code Law. President Tinubu’s recent visit to Jos included a pledge of justice for the over 30 victims, while Governor Caleb Mutfwang called the attacks genocide and vowed that Plateau would not be driven into perpetual mourning. The arraignment comes as the state maintains its cultural event schedule, with the governor insisting that cancelling “Experience Plateau” would play into the attackers’ agenda. Continued interventions and vigilance are expected to restore lasting peace in the region.
