Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle says Guinea-Bissau deserved their 3-0 win over Nigeria in Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Franculino Djú gave the hosts a first-half lead before Mama Baldé added a second after the break. Álvaro Djaló completed the scoring in stoppage time as Nigeria failed to build on their 2-1 opening victory over Madagascar. Chelle said Guinea-Bissau showed greater aggression, motivation and intensity throughout the match. He also cited the poor playing surface and hot weather as difficult conditions, while stressing that they were not excuses. Nigeria will need to regroup quickly as the qualifying campaign continues.
