Harare Clinic Records Up to 20 STI Cases Daily, With 40% Testing HIV-Positive

A clinic in Mabvuku, Harare, says it treats about 18 to 20 patients for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) each day. Its general practitioner, Albert Mudarikwa, said roughly 40% of these patients test positive for HIV. The facility offers HIV screening to patients who present with STIs, alongside free services and community outreach on prevention, testing and early treatment. Health workers say young adults are a major concern, with about 20% of patients aged 18 to 24 diagnosed with chlamydia, gonorrhoea or trichomoniasis. The clinic urged people to seek early testing and treatment, stressing that awareness and prevention remain important in reducing STI transmission.
