New Awujale of Ijebuland Expected Before May 29, Governor Abiodun Says

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun says a new Awujale of Ijebuland is expected to emerge before May 29. The governor gave the assurance during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ijebu-Ode. He said the state is working to ensure a peaceful and widely accepted succession process. Abiodun urged residents of Ijebuland to remain calm and patient while the necessary steps are concluded. He described the Awujale institution as central to the cultural heritage, identity and unity of the Ijebu people.
