Part 6: The Truth About Miriam

Daniel came immediately, and this time he told me everything. Miriam had been engaged to a man named David. After discovering that he was secretly seeing another woman, she confronted him. That same night, Miriam disappeared. Her family blamed David, but there was never enough evidence to prove he was responsible. Daniel’s mother later revealed something unsettling: Miriam had been seeing a woman who looked exactly like her, appearing only after midnight. No one believed her until Miriam died. Daniel then told me Miriam was not the first. There had been other women who looked just like her—and just like me. When I called my mother to ask about my biological parents, she broke down in tears. She finally told me that my biological mother was Miriam. As I looked at Daniel, I could not stop wondering whether he loved me—or chose me because I looked like his dead sister.
