Daniel Etim Effiong Defends Movie Kissing Scenes, Compares Acting to a Gynaecologist’s Work
Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong has responded to criticism of his kissing scenes in films. In a recent interview, he said acting roles should not automatically be judged as good or evil because the intention behind the work matters. Effiong asked whether critics would pose the same questions to a gynaecologist whose professional duties involve examining women’s bodies for medical care. He argued that a person’s character and intentions, rather than what is seen externally, should determine how their actions are judged. He said his work as an actor is part of his profession and maintained that people should focus on the condition of a person’s heart rather than condemning a scene without context.
