Ogun Ifa Priest Dies After Self-Immolation in Adebiopon Village
A 50-year-old traditional Ifa priest, Muritala Shodiya, reportedly poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze in an unfinished building in Adebiopon village, Obafemi Owode LGA, Ogun State. Villagers quickly put out the fire and rushed him to the General Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta. Doctors pronounced him dead the following morning. Residents say Shodiya had shown signs of depression after his wife left him. Some witnesses initially thought others set him on fire. A police spokesperson confirmed the incident and said an investigation is ongoing.
