Clash at UNIOSUN: Army Appeals for Calm, Orders Probe into Alleged Student Assault

Students at the Osogbo campus report that soldiers from the nearby Army Depot stormed their hostel, beating male students, sexually assaulting female students and stealing phones. The Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, has expressed deep concern over these allegations and emphasised that any misconduct by personnel is unacceptable. An immediate investigation has been launched to establish the facts and hold those responsible to account. The Army is calling on the National Association of Nigerian Students Southwest Zone to submit all available evidence and witness statements. It pledges to apply full military law against any personnel found guilty and stands ready to meet with student leaders to chart a way forward.
