NAFDAC Seizes 7,210 Suspected Substandard Products in Nationwide Surveillance
NAFDAC says it mopped up 7,210 regulated products during routine post-marketing surveillance conducted across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory between May and July 2026. The agency inspected 6,233 facilities covering food and water, drugs and herbal products, cosmetics, chemicals, medical devices, and vaccines. Food and water products accounted for 3,633 seizures, while drugs and herbal products accounted for 2,459. NAFDAC also said it uncovered three companies allegedly refilling branded 19-litre water dispenser bottles from unapproved sources. The products were reportedly supplied to hotels and supermarkets, and the operators were sanctioned. The agency urged Nigerians to continue reporting suspected counterfeit or unsafe products, noting that public complaints have helped trigger investigations and safety alerts.
