Raw Milk May Look Safe but Still Carry Dangerous Germs

Raw Milk May Look Safe but Still Carry Dangerous Germs

You cannot tell whether raw milk is safe by its appearance, smell or taste. Even milk from an animal that looks healthy can contain germs that cause serious illness. Children, pregnant women, older adults and people with weak immune systems face a higher risk. Pasteurisation removes harmful germs while keeping milk nutritious, so choose pasteurised milk and dairy products where possible. Farmers should keep milking equipment clean, separate sick animals, and observe medicine withdrawal periods before selling or consuming milk. Anyone with fever, vomiting, diarrhoea or severe weakness after drinking raw milk should seek medical care. Why do people in your area still prefer raw milk: taste, tradition, cost or limited awareness?
