Governor Soludo Receives IGP Disu to Strengthen Security in Anambra

On 18 March 2026, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, was warmly received by Governor Chukwuma Soludo at Government House, Awka. He was represented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police (South East Zone), DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, FDC, as part of the second-term inauguration activities. Governor Soludo congratulated both officers on their appointments and highlighted the critical need for enhanced security collaboration. He stressed that strong ties between the State Government and the Nigeria Police Force are vital to sustaining peace and driving economic growth across Anambra. The Governor assured full support for the police to reinforce the state’s security architecture and improve public safety. He also requested the Force’s assistance in managing a harmonious resolution to a traditional leadership dispute in Awka as the panel of enquiry concludes. The delegation, which included CP Ikioye Orutugu, FWC, MNIPS, PhD, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships with the State Government and other security stakeholders. The visit underscored a shared resolve to maintain peace and protect lives and property in Anambra and the broader South East region.
