Why I Believe Some South-East Supporters Back Foreign Intervention
I use “South-East” rather than Obidient or IPOB because I believe many people in the region support both movements. I am concerned by what I see as support from some of these voices for Donald Trump’s expansionist rhetoric in South and Central America, Greenland and the Strait of Hormuz. I am also disturbed by their support for Israel despite its occupation and apartheid allegations. In my view, some are calling for foreign military intervention to install Peter Obi as president and to pursue a Biafran state that includes parts of the South-South, Benue and Kogi. I believe this reflects frustration with achieving these goals through elections or local political action, and an expectation that foreign powers could disregard Nigeria’s sovereignty.
