Akwa Ibom Assembly Proposes 10-Year Jail Term for Side Chicks
Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly will on January 13, 2026 consider a bill banning affairs with married men. Under the proposal, women found guilty could face up to 10 years in prison while the men involved would pay a ₦2 million fine. If passed, asking “Are you married?” might become a necessary survival question before any rendezvous. The risk–reward ratio feels heavily stacked against side chicks. What do you think? Is criminalizing these relationships fair, or is the penalty too harsh?
