Court Ruling Puts Nafiu Gombe at Centre of ADC Leadership Fight
Nafiu Bala Gombe released a portrait identifying him as African Democratic Congress (ADC) national chairman after a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja invalidated the leadership of the Senator David Mark-led caretaker committee. Gombe reacted with a brief message: “Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah.” The court also invalidated actions taken by the committee, including the nomination of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s 2027 presidential candidate. Gombe had argued that he was entitled to lead the party after former chairman Ralph Nwosu resigned. The ADC says it will appeal the judgment. The ruling leaves the party’s leadership and its preparations for the 2027 election uncertain while the legal dispute continues.
