Awujale Succession: Four Fusengbuwa Leaders Sue 12 Relatives Over Family Leadership
The Awujale succession process has developed into two disputes within the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. Four leaders, led by Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, have sued 12 relatives at the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode over their alleged removal from office. They are asking the court to recognise their leadership and award ₦1 billion in damages over allegations made against them. However, another faction has presented Otunba Olukayode Otufale as the new Olori-Ebi, arguing that the earlier selection process was flawed and should begin again. The Owoyemi-led group says its removal was invalid, while the Otufale group maintains that the change followed family procedures. A separate case on the suspended selection of the next Awujale is due back in court on September 23.
