Kano North: Key Mobilisers, Legislative Aides Leave Barau’s Political Camp Ahead of 2027

Political realignments are emerging in Kano North after grassroots mobiliser Mustapha Yahaya Shuwaki and hundreds of supporters reportedly left the political camp of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin. Shuwaki said the group made the decision after consultations with community leaders, associates and supporters. He said they would announce their next political destination later. The development follows the resignation of Hajiya Mariya Bichi, known as Yar Kasuwa, from a position offered by the senator. Former Bichi Local Government Chairman Saleh Rabiu Yan Gwarzo also resigned as a legislative aide and reaffirmed support for Abba Kabir Bichi. An APC stalwart said the departures could create organisational challenges if internal grievances are not resolved. Senator Barau’s media team had not responded as of press time.
