Catholic Priest Condemns OPM Pastor’s Plan to Marry Off Autistic Son
A Catholic priest has publicly challenged Omega Power Ministries founder Pastor Chibuzor Gift Chinyere over his proposal to marry off an adopted autistic son to curb his sexual urges. The priest described the idea as a violation of human dignity and a distortion of the Sacrament of Marriage. Father Prince Chidi Philip urged that marriage is a sacred covenant rooted in love, responsibility and mutual consent—not a tool for managing mental health or biological impulses. He highlighted the need for proper training, professional collaboration and therapeutic approaches such as behavioural therapy and sexual rehabilitation. The priest called on Pastor Chinyere to protect and accompany the young man with humility and care. He warned against exploiting vulnerability for convenience and appealed for ethical, compassionate solutions rather than impulsive experiments.
