FCT Police Locate Mother of Newborn Abandoned in Galadima

The FCT Police Command says it has located the mother of a newborn girl who was abandoned along a road in Galadima, Abuja, on September 12. The woman told police that she became pregnant after an alleged sexual assault by four men in Keffi. She said she later moved to Abuja to stay with her brother and kept the pregnancy secret because she feared being sent away. She said she left the baby in a carton after giving birth, then watched from a distance as a resident found the child and took her to the Galadima Police Station. Police said neighbours who knew about the pregnancy confronted the woman after the case was publicised, and she admitted the baby was hers.
