Reliable Partnership: What MLK Jr. and Ralph Abernathy Teach Us
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” Proverbs 17:17 (NIV) True loyalty is easy in comfort. It shines brightest when danger and sacrifice call. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Reverend Ralph David Abernathy forged such a bond. Abernathy stood with King through arrests, protests, and even on the balcony in Memphis when King breathed his last. After that fateful night, Abernathy did not step back. He led the Southern Christian Leadership Conference forward. He honoured their covenant and carried the baton of justice. Prayer: Father, thank You for the living examples of steadfast partnership. Bring into my life those whose loyalty endures adversity. Help me to be that reliable friend to others.
