Zamfara’s Notorious Bandit Boss ‘Yellow’ Killed in Ambush as Rivalry Deepens
Kachalla Sani “Yellow,” one of Zamfara’s deadliest bandit commanders, was killed on July 10 in Anka Local Government Area. The development ends the reign of a feared warlord long linked to attacks, kidnappings and cattle rustling in the North-West. Eyewitnesses say Yellow was shot dead in broad daylight at Dan Jibga Market by men believed loyal to rival kingpin Dogo Gide. Another account credits a joint operation by security forces and Maiduguri Special Vigilantes for neutralising him during a targeted raid. Yellow was widely feared for coordinating violent raids across Anka, Bukkuyum and Maru LGAs, displacing thousands and abducting villagers for ransom. Authorities have yet to confirm which version of events is accurate. The incident highlights the growing feud among bandit factions and the ongoing security challenge in Zamfara State.
