George Weah Condemns CAF’s Shocking AFCON 2025 Host Shift from Senegal to Morocco
On March 18, 2026, I issued a statement on CAF’s decision to strip Senegal of AFCON 2025 and award it to Morocco. According to Law 5 of the Laws of the Game, the referee on the pitch has full authority, and once a match ends, the result must stand. In the Senegal vs. Morocco final, the referee allowed play to continue after Senegal’s walk-off, completed extra time, and filed a report noting a stoppage—not a forfeiture. CAF’s post-match ruling should not override the on-field authority exercised under FIFA and CAF regulations. I call on the Court of Arbitration for Sport and all relevant bodies to review this decision. Football must be decided on the pitch, not in committee rooms. I also deny any support for the disciplinary ruling against Senegal. – George Manneh Weah, Sr.
