Abia Warriors Appeal ₦3.25m NPFL Fine and Five-Match Ban for Multimedia Officer
Abia Warriors have appealed the NPFL sanctions imposed after their October 25 match against Niger Tornadoes. The club was fined ₦3.25 million, while multimedia officer Chidera Favour Igwe received a five-match suspension. The NPFL alleged that Igwe attempted to disrupt the live broadcast and that the club failed to provide adequate security. Abia Warriors said he only asked a cameraman to redirect a prolonged shot he believed was focused on him. The club has asked the league body to review the official broadcast footage. It also disputes the security charge, noting that Niger Tornadoes left the stadium safely after the match. The fine includes ₦1 million for security, ₦2 million over the broadcast incident and ₦250,000 for medical costs.
