Why Do Some Muslims Sympathise With the Houthis Despite the Saudi Conflict?

I would like to understand why some Muslims and political groups appear sympathetic to the Houthis despite the group’s long conflict with Saudi Arabia, home to Makkah and Madinah. Support for the Houthis is not shared by all Muslims, Nigerians, or even all Yemenis. The conflict involves regional politics, the war in Yemen, Saudi-Iran rivalry, and differing views on Israel and Palestine. Religious identity alone may not explain people’s positions. How do Muslims who support the Houthis separate political support from concern for the safety of Saudi Arabia’s holy sites?
