Vigilantes Rescue Three Suspected Phone Thieves From Lynching in Jos

An angry mob in Jos North set a tricycle ablaze near Zololo Junction around 12:20pm on Monday, June 15, 2026. Commuters raised the alarm and quickly apprehended three suspects, including a woman. As the mob moved in to lynch them, local vigilantes intervened and rescued the trio. The suspects were taken to a vigilante office and later handed over to police. Witnesses say phone-snatching in tricycles has surged in recent days. Resident Isa Bello said suspected thieves have been terrorising the area at all hours, dispossessing commuters of phones, laptops and cash.
