Alleged Banana Thief Stabs 62-Year-Old Ekiti Farmer to Death

A 62-year-old farmer was killed in the early hours of Sunday at the Okemesi-Ikoro boundary in Ekiti State. The victim, Oladunjoye Adeniyi, confronted a suspect who had allegedly entered his farm to steal bananas. Witnesses say their dispute escalated and the suspect attacked him with a machete, killing him on the spot. Security personnel from the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun), the police, and local patrol teams rushed to the scene after a distress call. Officers from the Ijero Police Command arrested the suspect and have begun further investigations. The Provost Marshal of Amotekun confirmed the arrest and said inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
