The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Lagos State Command, has completed a week-long Advanced Basic and Intelligence Training at the Police College, Ikeja. Officers from Lagos and other commands received lessons in intelligence gathering, self-defence, parade drills, operational ethics, human rights and practical field operations. VGN leaders said the training would improve professionalism, crime prevention and cooperation with the Nigeria Police Force. They stressed that community-based officers have valuable knowledge of local terrain, culture and residents, which can support early intelligence and security efforts. The group called on the Federal Government to formally recognise and integrate the VGN into Nigeria’s wider security framework. Participants pledged to apply the training responsibly while respecting the rule of law and human rights.
